Literally discarded like rotten garbage on a random roadside in unfamiliar territory, it is to wonderment of all shelter staff as to how the gal who did so to me...while her two young children watched...can lay her head down at night!!!!
Terrified out of my wits, I had no idea what was happening. One minute, I thought my owner loved me. The next, I found myself booted out of the vehicle in an area I had never been to before. I hadn't a clue. With no sense of direction, I didn't know where to turn. The many new smells were immediately overwhelming and I instinctively knew I was in grave danger of becoming the next meal for a hungry predator such as a raccoon or coyote. The rainy mist was falling down, my coat was becoming saturated, and I was oh so very,very cold:(
Lucky for me, the entire incident was unknowingly witnessed by two kind passerby's who later became suspicious. There was little hope that by the time someone got back to me I'd still be there. With dusk quickly approaching, and myself sporting a black coat, no one was expecting a happy ending, yet all were holding out for one.
Lo and behold, the sound of rescue! When I saw the truck pull up and heard the most compassionate of voices enticing me towards it, I knew in my heart of all hearts I was spared. With my tail held high, I raced towards the woman as fast as my little legs would carry me. She instantly scooped me up into her arms and hugged me like I've never been hugged before. By way of my distinct meows I tried to share my story of plight, but it became apparent to me that she was already fully aware. She had purposely set out to rescue me. I was going to live; I mattered!
An absolute precious delight, I feel like I am the most grateful cat alive. Having been gifted with a warm kennel and a soft blanket, I now know that there are angels among us. Shelter staff have been awesome, and they have gone out of their way to make sure that my past does not define my future. They are of the mindset that every single last companion animal on this earth is worthy of a rich and fulfilling life. They have promised me one, and I wholeheartedly believe them.
